Technical Services Manager

Reporting to the Director, Quality Operations, the Technical Services Manager is responsible for all activities related to the technical transfer of products into the plant as well as technical support for products and processes. The position also has direct involvement with the LEAN team and acts as a key facilitator for Continuous Improvement programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction to all phases of technical transfers and scale-up processes
  • Provide technical support to Manufacturing and Quality Operations for investigations, root cause analyses and process development
  • Recommend appropriate Continuous Improvement solutions such as LEAN and six sigma initiatives
  • Assist in the identification of strategic site training requirements to enhance the site process improvement knowledge base
  • Promote a culture and common understanding of Continuous Improvement tools and practices
  • Oversee all aspects of the site validation program
  • Facilitate new product capability assessments, and assist in the equipment selection process
  • Act as a primary facilitator of the product quoting process and provide technical support to Business Development

Qualifications:

  • B.Sc. (or equivalent) in a technical discipline
  • Minimum 5-10 years diversified experience in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, including proven Leadership experience
  • Other combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated leader behaviours and management competencies
  • Proven ability to develop people and work with teams
  • Knowledge of the Canadian and US Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Knowledge of financial budgeting, continuous improvement, statistical analysis, root cause analysis and problem solving techniques
  • Six sigma and/or LEAN certification would be a definite asset
